You, sir, are the scummiest of the scum that is blog spammers I've ever seen. You discredit yourself and the "business" you "represent."
Meanwhile, to anyone who might be thinking of satellite TV: I'd strongly advise against an outfit that calls itself "directstarTV." If its advertising methods mean anything, it's a total scam.
[Update, 7/22: I emailed the business, and today I received a reply which included the following:
Thank you for informing us of this issue. We’d like to offer our apologies for these incessant and unnecessary blog posts you received from a former affiliate of our company. Please know that DirectStarTV does not support such marketing tactics. As of July 22, 2009, this affiliate has been terminated and ordered to cease and desist immediately.
So I feel a little better about them.]

Damn. Get em!!
That is awesome!!!!
Hi Sid,
I assume your complaint is/was about "Andrew" -- a person or persons representing this company. Is this a franchise operation in your area?
I'll pass your comments along to people on Twitter if you wish. You can always email me more about your experiences as I track many complaints on the Internet.
We are Comcast subscribers in Portland, Oregon. I know nothing about the group you have mentioned but appreciate your warning to all of your worldwide readers.
Cordially,
EK
you've got balls, sid.
today i got mugged and almost shot. he got my bank car, my health car, my license, and a hundred bucks.
almost stopped my bleeding heart. . . but it didn't.
keep up the good work, sid.
Yikes, egomos: that compares to my experience as an elephant to a squirrel. Glad you survived. What a horrible story.
I saw all the additional promotional posts added to your entries. They showed up in my email, Sid. Very, very troubling. This anonymous poster should be exposed in some way. Scamming is his way of life, I guess. I hope he just leaves your blog alone in the future.

Greetings, dr. Schwab. I've found your blog half a year ago. I can say I am very impressed by your writing and experiences. It also had some influence on my choice for a profession.
I cannot pretend to know how one feels in your situation (because I'm 22, at the very least), but maybe it would help to revisit your old life? Not metaphorically - directly. To be in the OR again. Maybe a friend who is still in the business (I've got the impression you have quite a few) would agree to have you visit a few times. Or to teach. I know it's youthful and perhaps idealistic, but sometimes it works beautifully, as with the high-school student in an anecdote, when he didn't know that a mathematical problem was unsolvable, and solved it :).
For what it's worth.
Thanks for the good thoughts.
Haha, I like that word. Incessant. It was first introduced into my vocabulary when I was 21, and my 18 year old freshman girlfriend used it to describe my requests for extra curricular activities. Ahh, the good ole days.
Just saw your update and that's good news. We bloggers have to be diligent and try to keep this method of communication as free of contamination as possible.
Your efforts have brought action. I'm proud of you, Sid.
