Selling Out
So I got invited to blog for money. Truth be told, I'd not heard of MedPage Today before the offer came along. Even though it amounts more to tribute than treasure, I said yes. My tat for their tit is to have placed a new scrolling news-widget in my sidebar, over there to the right. And I've agreed that although it's OK to post stuff from here over there, I'll be writing some "exclusive" posts as well. I assume it's OK to let readers here know when I've dropped one there. So, other than a post of self-introduction, here's my first offering.
Funny how it works. This comes at a time when I've been feeling like I've squeezed my blogging brain pretty dry. Given a contractual commitment, I'm worried about giving this blog -- my one true love -- short shrift. We'll see. It could be the end of me in both places. Poetic justice.

Sid, this is great news! You're a wealth of information, as my "Sid's Tomes" folder will attest. You've seen so many changes in medicine and bring a measured, well-rounded perspective to the proliferation of jaded opinions on all sorts of topics. Plus you make me laugh. Good on ya!
good on ya
congrats.
I agree with them. Good for you!
well done Dr S, but please, keep up the blogging!
The new page reads like a potential "greatest hits" collection! Hope you get some back-and-forth commentary going, as well, since the entire panel is prolific, insightful, and a bit smart-alec-y.
Speaking of being published in other places I came across this in the online letters section of this weeks Savage Love:

The third letter from the bottom.
I thought you'd like to know that your conquest of the internet is continuing apace.
ATG: Busted! Yeah, I've been known to read Dan Savage, in The Onion. And I've sent the occasional email to him, when I though he needed a little medical input. Until your comment, I didn't know that one had been published. But let's keep it our secret, OK?
Sid, it's out of the bag! I had to check it out. Hey, I once wrote an author (I still read her books) who mistaking had an orthopedic doc taking care of a broken nose.
"mistakenly"
Fly in the ointment:
So if we comment on the commercial site, do we get a cut?
Hopefully you don't have something akin to a restrictive convenant -- maybe you'll find they're rolling in dough and giving you peanuts. Just mentioned this in jest on intueri.org, but maybe you can become a free agent, try to pull in the megabucks.
Greg: I suppose I could amortize based on the number of comments, which, last I checked, was nil. The gratuity is much more of an honorarium than a living wage, but it's the thought, I suppose. I'm still feeling my way: the implicit pressure may get to me.
Haha, love the comment for Savage Love. I'm but an M2, but I had a similar thought to you - if ingesting salt water is toxic, then drinking concentrated urine can't be too far off.
