Dr. Schwab,
Do you really think the flame has gone out?
I hope it hasn't, Justiine.
Anyway we can help "re-light" the candle, Dr Schwab?
I'm sorry you're feeling burnt-out, Dr. Schwab. I want you to know that your blog and book have really helped me understand the surgical and medical culture during a difficult time. My son fell off a 65 ft. bluff, landing on a pipe between his legs. Then he eventually landed on a rat, killing it. My son is doing very well now, but it's been a long year. Thank you for being here in cyberspace for me, a sympathetic medical voice.
By the way, I'm a recovered attorney--I teach kindergarten now. I've turned from the dark side (-:

Is this a tribute to your passed friend? Or a statement about yourself? Hang in there for the contagion of cherry blossoms and sunny days. You have a brilliant mind, otherwise it wouldn't be so darned hard.
I'm sorry, I did not mean to imply that cherry blossoms and sunny days could replace a good friend or erase tragedy. I wish you a lighter load, is all...
Dr. Schwab,
Since you said that Sunday was now reserved for political posts, I had assumed you meant that you feel that the flame has gone out on the Obama campaign and momentum. And I feel that you feel bad about that, like I do. Maybe it really was too good to be true that one man could give people such hope and inspiration.
Dr. Schwab,
Or...since the candle is red...do you mean to say that you hope the Republican tenure in the White House will soon be smoldered? (Your mysteriousness is baffling:))
I'm also not sure how to interpret the candle... Hope it means you decided to get a good night's rest and turned the lights out early. :( Be well.

I wish you well and am still sending prayers and good thoughts your way. And I know we might have are different perspectives, but I always wish you the best.
Maybe his reply of a "?" is for us to use this as self-reflection? Like a Koan from Buddhist teachings?.
We all feel crispy (burnt-out) from time to time. It is always a good time to reflect on priorities.
At least that is how I interpret the candle.
Sometimes smoke is just smoke...
(((hugs))
Feel better soon, Dr. Schwab. Maybe there is a greater purpose to the tragedy. I'm sorry about your candle and feelings.
I hope it relights.
You are a great person.
A bright and shining body that has given its energy up to the spirit dancing with light in the air.
In all honesty when I saw this smoke patterns, I thought of the GI tract. No offence intended, this was just the first thought that came to me.
Just as we can all read something different into the candle you posted, I can read many different reasons why I just felt a connection with your blog and added you to my rss feed. It all boils down to... I like reading it.
